The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the Russian media, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“But, unfortunately, let’s go back to the consequences and results for us. As a result: there is no Mariupol. Simply no. There is simply no Volnovakha. There are no towns near Kyiv in Kyiv Region – our small towns… Which, I think, are the same as yours… All towns near the capital cities are usually small. But people live there. There are cottage houses, and local population too. All of this no longer exists. The scorched land. Simply the scorched land. Completely,” Zelensky told.

In his words, the photographs taken in these cities do not show the whole catastrophe, which is happening there.

According to Zelensky, Volnovakha has been destroyed completely. There are no streets, no houses. In Mariupol, with a population of about 500,000, 90% of buildings were damaged.

“They go and burn, simply burn. I do not even know who else the Russian Army treated like that. Never. I haven’t seen. Perhaps, I was too young then – and the wars in Chechnya, I do not remember all the photographs as deeply. It was horrible but, excuse me… This is the scale we cannot compare. Today, there have been two wars so far,” Zelensky noted.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile and air strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians.
